That’s because the Omelettry serves breakfast until dinnertime! This is a cool spot with funky paintings on the outside walls and a dining area that defines casual. But the word is out, so be prepared to wait a bit on the weekends. The menu features many traditional breakfast plates, but locals really like the specials (try the Popeye Omelet with spinach, the Eggonomica, or the Gingerbread Pancakes). You can also create your own omelet! Come back for the lunch specials, or just have breakfast again! And remember, this is a cash-only establishment.

  • Use the correct oil for your car. Putting in oil that is a different grade for your car can lower your car's gas mileage, even if you're putting in a higher grade of oil. Your car needs the recommended oil to perform efficiently.
  • Regularly replace your air filters. A clogged air filter can affect your acceleration and fuel efficiencies for older cars. Chaparral Ice: Ice Skating and More in North Austin

Do you miss winter? If yes, head to Chaparral Ice in north Austin for year-round winter fun.  This ice rink is a popular spot for recreational skating where kids of all ages have fun.  Admission and skate rental is $10 for adults and children five and over. Check their online calendar for adult skate times. Chaparral Ice offers ice skating classes for those interested in learning the art of figure skating as well as hockey leagues for those that want to improve their skills. If you don’t feel comfortable on blades, there are other fun ice-based activities including curling and boomball. Be sure to dress for the cold: wear thick socks and gloves.

Since 1975, Austin diners have indulged in Fonda San Miguel’s authentic regional Mexican cuisine. Diners are impressed with just about everything that comes out of the kitchen, its hard to make a wrong choice. The quesos asados are popular starters – try the queso with homemade chorizo verde. If you’re looking to indulge, the lobster mango ceviche is also highly recommended. Their signature entrees are the chicken mole, and the cochinita pibil, a Yucatan dish of pork baked in banana leaf. Save room for dessert, the tres leches cake is delicious. Fonda San Miguel also offers a Sunday brunch buffet with plenty of options, ranging from quail to fajitas, along with many sides. Tasty Food at Julio’s Cafe in Austin’s Hyde Park Neighborhood

Family owned and operated since 1983, Julio’s Cafe is a top spot for Mexican cuisine in Austin’s Hyde Park neighborhood. Their specialty is roast chicken, and you won’t go wrong with any item on the menu that features it. The chicken and vegetable soup is a customer favorite, and quarter and half chicken specials are a great value for a hungry diner. In fact, everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Although chips and salsa aren’t complimentary, their salsa makes it worth the few extra bucks. Counter-ordering makes Julio’s great for a casual meal, and the cafe is clean and well maintained. Brightly colored walls and sunny windows make a cheerful and welcoming spot, perfect for a morning meal.  Breakfast tacos with your choice of ingredients are a popular pick. This is an absurdly varied playground to suit every Saturday night — there are eight vintage bowling lanes; a cozy 80-person dining and cocktail lounge masterminded by local genius Chef Reggie; four billiards tables; two table tennis courts; shuffleboard; board games; skee ball; live music; movies and Wii face-offs on the deck under the stars … the atmosphere is simultaneously classy and playful, the perfect spot for a date, a birthday, or escaping the bar scene.

Drinks and food aren't cheap — cocktails run about $12, and top-end entrees are $25. Word is that the food's worth it, though. (Crab cakes, pork sliders and ceviche get high marks.)

One piece of advice? Bowl before ordering champagne!
