Wind Down At Walnut Park in Webster

If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing day in the park, your search is over. Walnut Park is tucked away in the beautiful residential area of Webster. The park contains two playgrounds, a jogging track, a gazebo, and a small pavilion area with a few picnic tables. Among all of these amenities, locals tend to rave about the jogging track the most. This track is a soft asphalt material that differs from the ones you’ll find in any other park. Plus, there are many trees along the path so it provides plenty of shade for those warm summer days.

This is a small and quaint park, so there aren’t any restrooms or water fountains on-site. But as a perk, the park is rarely crowded! If you’re looking for a quiet day in a nice little neighborhood, this is the place to be.

Break a Sweat at the Perry Family YMCA

The Perry Family YMCA connects people of all ages and backgrounds and truly brings the community together. With a reputation of being a clean and safe place to work out, this particular YMCA has plenty of newer machines that are well maintained. What's more, the Y offers different kinds of group classes, from Zumba and Tae Bo to Boot Camp and Pilates. Swimming instruction is also offered here.

The Perry Family YMCA also offers safe childcare for children while you work out at no extra cost, which is really convenient. They also have several programs for children for you to take advantage of, as well.

Members say this YMCA is never too crowded, so there’s always equipment available to use. There’s also a place to get fresh smoothies so you can grab a healthy snack while leaving the gym!

Dickinson Historic Railroad Center: Learn About Dickinson’s Locomotive Past

In the late 1800s, the Dickinson Depot was a part of the Galveston, Houston, and Henderson Railroad Line, one of the earliest railroads in all of Texas. Today, the depot is home to the Dickinson Historic Railroad Center, a community center and museum dedicated to preserving this important icon in Dickinson’s transportation history.

The Victorian-style building is quite a sight to see, from its original red brick fireplace to its bay window that overlooks the train tracks. The museum portion contains numerous photographs and other memorabilia from the time when trains ruled the city’s industry. In the gift shop you’ll find educational books describing the Dickinson Depot’s history and even children’s books filled with colorful pictures, making your visit a fun and eye-opening experience for the whole family.

The Dickinson Historical Society runs the Dickinson Historic Railroad Center. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
