November 6, 2013 10:39 am

Wimberly Valley Winery proves that you can indeed get great wine from Texas. Located near the Villages at Spring Oaks, Wimberly Valley Winery produces a number of quality wines to satisfy many tastes. The thirty acre vineyard and facility also has a wine tasting room, the perfect place to take a class! For just $40 per couple, you can have a fun and educational time learn about how to pair wines with different foods, and to use all of your senses to understand how to truly taste a great glass of wine. There’s also a monthly “Around the World With Wine” class, which looks at a different region every class. Call ahead to reserve a spot. Wimberly Valley wines are sold in better stores around the area, but the winery itself makes a great spot for a trip away from Avana Six Pines.

The Flavors of Louisiana are at Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen

October 30, 2013 11:30 am

Taste the flavors of Louisiana at Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen in The Woodlands. Conveniently located near the Market Street shops, it's an ideal spot to stop in for lunch. Diners love the complimentary basket of Cajun potato chips. The menu offers all of the standards of Big Easy cuisine, like chicken and sausage gumbo, etouffe, jambalaya, and po'boys (try one with sloppy roast beef). Just be sure to save room for beignets (New Orleans-style doughnuts) and a French Press coffee. Come by on Wednesday or Thursday for "Wine Lovers Night" and take advantage of $10 off any bottle of wine. Regulars love Schilleci's for its friendly service and cozy space.

The Library of Congress has compiled an online National Jukebox. You can now explore historical sound recordings whenever you want, free of charge. Search based on artist, song, lyricist, genre, year, composer, or place. The jukebox started with 10,000 recordings made between 1901 and 1925 by the Victor Talking Machine Company. Since launching, the content has continued to grow to include recordings from other recording labels owned by Sony Music Entertainment.
