The Louisville area is famous for its natural beauty. Located on the Ohio River, the city is ringed by lush forests and boasts over 120 city parks, many of which were designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead. One of Louisville's most popular parks is Cherokee Park, which welcomes over a half a million visitors ever year to its green lawns, winding trails and the Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary. Iroquois Park is more heavily forested. Often referred to as the “Yellowstone of Kentucky,” this park is centered around Burnt Knob, a tall hill covered with old growth forest that offers spectacular views of Louisville's city skyline. For a more urban experience, the Louisville Waterfront Park runs along the Ohio River and hosts frequent outdoor concerts. It also boasts a linear fountain system that attracts hordes of children. It’s the largest public park in the country with free Wi-Fi internet access. No matter what your interest, there’s a park in Louisville for you!
