Pundt Park: Outdoor Fun and Activities for the Whole Family

Located off of Spring Creek Drive and part of the Spring Creek Greenway, the sprawling 380-acre spread of Pundt Park is the perfect venue for your outdoor activities of choice. Saddle up to traverse the park's many equestrian trails, or lace up your hiking boots and hit the 10-mile trail linking Pundt Park to the Stahl Preserve and the Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Centre. If you prefer to kick back on a lazy summer day, pack up a basket and post up along the picnic loop with 10 tables, two covered pavilions, and convenient restrooms nearby.

Pundt Park’s two lakes are ideal for fishing with white bass and crappie ready for catching in winter and year round catfish, but guests should keep in mind that swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking are prohibited.

Pundt Park is open 8 a.m. to dusk to year-round.

Cherry Blossom Yoga: An Airy Studio for All Skill Levels

Cherry Blossom Yoga offers more than 25 different classes each week at all times of the day, which makes it the ideal studio for the yogi with a hectic schedule. The studio itself is an open, airy space, with light colored walls, hardwood floors, and dim lighting that creates a soothing atmosphere. Clean changing rooms make it easy to get ready for your practice, and there are also individual cubbyholes for storing your belongings while in class.

The classes focus around Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and restorative styles of yoga, and the knowledgeable staff comprises qualified instructors who have trained all over the world. Cherry Blossom Yoga also offers teacher training for experienced yogis who want to become instructors themselves.

Old Town Spring: A Historic Experience for the Whole Family

Founded by settlers in the early 19th century, Spring began as a hub for railroad development and industrialization in Texas. As the economy flourished, Spring also became a destination for trade and business. Much like the rest of the United States, Spring was hit hard by the Depression in the 1930’s and took time to rebuild. The town subsequently reemerged several decades later and grew into a hotspot for festivals, events, and tourism in Texas. Today, Old Town Spring is recognized as one of Texas’ leading attractions. Visitors can wander the streets to feel history or visit the local Spring Historical Museum to learn more of the town’s journey.

These days, Old Town Spring is most well-known for its quaint, welcoming storefronts and businesses that maintain an old-timey feel along Main Street. It also garners attention for annual gatherings, including the popular Texas Crawfish & Music Festival and PetFest, an adoption event that places furry friends with loving families.

Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts: A Community Art Gallery

One of the most delightful art spaces near Avana Woodridge, the recently renovated Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is a museum that's always in transition. Because there are no permanent exhibits, there are always different things to see at the facility. The late Pearl Fincher was a local community leader, and this museum is a great tribute to her legacy. There are three major galleries that so far this year have brought amazing exhibitions, and the Community Gallery features exhibitions from local elementary, middle, high school, and college students. With upcoming exhibits that focus on local art and architecture, there’s always something interesting around the bend. The museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays until 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but a $3 donation per person is suggested.

TopGolf: A Driving Range With a Twist

TopGolf began as a traditional driving range in 2000, but over the next decade it evolved into a truly futuristic golf experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The facility is separated into multiple air conditioned bays to shield players from the Houston heat, and there are many different holes scattered throughout the range.

Players can treat the visit like a traditional driving range or play one of TopGolf’s strategy games in which each hole is worth different amounts of points. Every hole is equipped with a sensor that keeps track of your points for you, and at night the holes light up with colorful lights. Up to six players can use one bay at a time, and the bays also contain comfortable seating areas where guests can order food and drinks while playing.

If that doesn’t sound like enough, TopGolf also offers pool tables, a full bar, and live music to make each visit fun for players of all ages and skill levels!

Meyer Park: 180 Acres of Green Space in Spring

With its 180-acre expanse of open green space and its many exercise stations and paved trails, Meyer Park is especially beloved by the runners in the Spring area. The park is very large and full of numerous different amenities, including gazebos and picnic stations that are ideal for an afternoon lunch outdoors.

Here, you'll find an impressive 26 soccer fields for pick-up play or organized community leagues, as well as two softball fields and a well-maintained basketball court. Outdoors-y visitors love feeding the ducks at the small duck pond and fishing at the three-acre lake, which is stocked with bluegill, catfish, and large-mouth bass. Meyer Park also offers playgrounds to accommodate little ones.

Meyer Park is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. There aren’t many lights in the park, so be sure to plan your visit before the sun goes down.

Treasures From the Past Find New Life at Spring Antique Mall

To take home a piece of days gone by, head over to Spring Antique Mall, located off of Spring Cypress Road. Its inventory spans high-end collectibles, china and crystal, and furniture dating as far back as the 18th century, as well as fine vintage clothing kept in excellent condition. However, if it's a black-and-white portrait of George Michael you seek, look elsewhere, as one very lucky Yelper managed to score this one-of-a-kind find back in 2012.

To proponents of “Retrocycling”, i.e. the “reinventing, repurposing, refurbishing, refashioning and recycling [of] antiques and vintage collectibles”, Spring Antique Mall is the ideal place to score new wares. The mall's website showcases several genius ideas, including the repurposing of a hollowed-out television set into a cozy indoor dog house, the refashioning of an old sink into an outdoor bird bath, and an impressive staircase crafted from old-timey crate boxes.
