Parcel 104: Amazing Food, Spectacular Wine and Spirits

March 12, 2013 | sack

Renowned chef Bradley Ogden’s restaurants have a wealth of accolades to their names—his namesake restaurant won the 2004 James Beard Award for best new restaurant and was named “Best of the Best” by the Robb Report. So you already know that Parcel 104’s seasonal American fare will be top-notch (not to menton that it has earned the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine and the Best of Silicon Valley, Reader’s Choice by The Wave Magazine).

So let’s instead discuss the wine and spirits offerings, which are, in a word, jawdroppingamazinglyspectacularicious (OK, that probably shouldn’t be one word). First thing you should know: Parcel 104 has repeatedly been honored by Wine Spectator and others for its selection, and deservedly so— the wine and spirits menu is, um, 37 pages long. But it’s quality, not quantity, that really counts. And they’ve got quality: The list is, not surprisingly, heavy on red and white California wines of every possible variety. But what’s truly remarkable is the collection of whiskeys, from Islay scotches to Irish whiskeys to exceedingly rare bourbons. If you’re going to punish your liver, might as well do it right.
