City Place Wine Bar may look upscale—and its wine list certainly is—but the in-house sommelier never gives off a snooty vibe. Customers say he's not only extremely helpful when it comes to picking a glass or bottle of wine, he's also friendly and happy to educate uninitiated imbibers.

In the short amount of time since City Place has been open—it made its debut in July two miles away from Brookside Park—the bar has racked up rave online reviews for its handpicked wines. City Place only stocks wines that its own staff has tasted and approved, which is why the sommelier can give patrons such solid recommendations. In addition to the pours, City Place Wine Bar also dishes out fresh, seasonal salads, paninis, and cheese and charcuterie.
