In a region that's known for its high-tech industry, it's refreshing to come across something decidedly low-tech. The Jehning Family Lock Museum of Mountain View is a free attraction that draws visitors into the world of locks and keys.
The museum started as simply a locksmith business, but in 2005 reopened as a museum. The collection is made up of 5,000 keys, 1,000 locks and safes from countries in North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and beyond. The museum puts the spotlight on the individual items, but also their historical significance.
The Jehning Family Lock Museum of Mountain View isn't far from to Brookside Park, so it would be easy to visit and open your eyes to a simpler time.
