Poke Bar: Market-Style Hawaiian Cuisine

January 19, 2016 | sack

Delicious, filling, and just two miles away from Brookside Park, Poke Bar is a grab-and-go spot for amazing and authentic Hawaiian poke. A food trend just starting to gain traction in the continental U.S., poke refers to raw fish served in a rice bowl, topped with nearly anything you can imagine, like nuts, onions, garlic, mango, seaweed, crab salad, and more.

Here, you choose a base, like salad or rice, then a protein, like tuna or salmon. Finish off with some toppings, a dressing like wasabi mayo or ponzi sauce, and you are set to start eating. There are three different portions sizes, which makes it perfect for a light lunch or heartier dinner. It’s reasonably priced, especially for the portions, and checking in with Yelp currently gets you $2 off your order. Poke Bar is located in a small market, so you’ll have to take the food to go and chow down at home!
