Tarragon: Classic Cuisine, Modern Decor

April 23, 2013 | sack

It’s tough for a restaurant to strike the right balance between upscale and inviting, but Sunnyvale's Tarragon has found it. The deliberately exposed brick walls and white tablecloths tell you that your meal comes courtesy of culinary masters. The missing chandelier tells you that the waiters are happy to help you pick a wine to go with your meal. For the depth and complexity of the dishes Tarragon offers (like poached sea bass, rack of Colorado lamb, citrus marinated pork loin), its prices remain reasonable, at about $18-22 an entree. Cap off dinner with one of Tarragon’s decadent desserts, like the Peanut Butter Bomba – caramel surrounded by peanut butter gelato coated in milk chocolate with warm caramel sauce – or the Creme Brulee Cheesecake – a dish so luxuriant it needs no introduction.
