The nationally recognized Oakland Running Festival hosted over 10,000 registered participants at last weekend’s ORF2016 run. They already have a goal of 11,000 runners in mind for the 2017 run and registration is open now.

Runners can choose from several distances, including Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k, kids fun run, or 4-person relay team. There is also a "We Run This Town" challenge for those interested in participating in the half and the 5K. There is really something for everyone!

The event is very well-organized and registered runners receive a high-quality t-shirt as well as a beautiful finishing medal. Sponsors and vendors fill Snow Park so there is a lot to do once the race is over. Post-race activities include food, music, and fun.

The use of headphones is strongly discouraged during the run. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Ticket prices range from $30 to $105 depending on when you register and what you will be running. (Price increase on 4/1/16, 10/1/16, 12/1/16, 3/1/17, and registration will range from $50 to $165 if you register at the expo, the day before the event). There is a $5 processing fee when you register online for each participant. Find out more information on their website or check out their facebook page: facebook.com/OaklandRunn….
People love them on yelp, too: yelp.com/biz/oakland-run…

Not a runner? Consider signing up as a volunteer or showing up to cheer the runners on. The encouragement coming from the sidelines during the run is amazing. No matter how you attend, don’t miss their fun-filled, family event!
