June 3, 2014 | sack
The world of computers exploded in Silicon Valley, so it only makes sense that the Computer History Museum is in Mountain View. Over 1,100 artifacts have a home here, including some of the world's first computers, which date back to the 1940s and 1950s. These early computers used punch cards to store data, and the giant machines computed so slowly, modern laptop easily surpass them. You can also learn about the men who pioneered the technology and see one of the first “Apple 1” kits.
Open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Computer History Museum is not just for computer buffs, but for the whole family.
