Deer Hollow Farm: A Rural Learning Experience

June 10, 2014 | sack

Kids and adults will enjoy a day on Deer Hollow Farm, a 162-year-old teaching farm that hosts 126,000 annual visitors. Here, you can expect to cross paths with cows, chickens, goats, sheep, and many more farm animals roaming the area.

Kids will love taking a “Meet the Animals” tour to learn about the animals. Presentations are given to show how the animals are cared for. There are also presentations of methods to cultivate the crops that are still grown on this land. You can also get involved by sponsoring an animal or by donating your money or time as a volunteer.

Deer Hollow farm is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you're planning a visit on a Wednesday, make note that the farm closes at 1 p.m.
