Classic Tomes Meet Open-Mic Nights at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library

May 18, 2016 | crestmarc

Connect with fellow bibliophiles from Butler Brothers Building at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in the heart of Dallas. This beloved community resource boasts eight floors, each offering reading and research materials in a different subject. The first-floor “Downtown Branch,” for example, is a cross between a library and a book store, while the other seven floors host materials dealing with business, history, children's interests, government information, and so on. (Tip: If you’re the tech-savvy type, download their new app to browse the catalog or renew your books from anywhere.)

More than just a place to read books, the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library also plays host to a variety of events, some annual and some a one-time-only deal. Annual events include free tax assistance during tax season, summer reading programs, an “Express Yourself” youth poetry competition, and an international book fair in the fall. Check their website for a schedule of upcoming events, like weekly concerts, family movie nights, open-mic nights, children's events, and much more!
