At the Butler Brothers Building, the past grounds the spirit of our vision for the future. Built in 1910, our building has anchored commerce and industry, serving as a mercantile warehouse for Chicago-based Butler Brothers & Co. under the mantles of the Ben Franklin five-and-dime franchise and later the Dallas Merchandise Mart. Its last iteration was that of office space for city employees and local businesses. This industrious momentum was lost for nearly four decades during which time the building was abandoned. What may seem like a loss was viewed as an opportunity for a renaissance by Alterra International, the building’s developer. Alterra International proudly converted this outstanding property into a space for forward thinking and creative living, carrying the torch into the future for prosperity and positive change for the downtown Dallas community.
