Helen Putnam Regional Park: Head for The Hills
November 18, 2014 | sack
Experience the natural beauty of Petaluma with a visit to Helen Putnam Regional Park, one of the largest and most popular parks in the area. This outdoor area spans an impressive 216 acres throughout Sonoma County and northern Marin County, most of which is made up of gently rolling hills that offer stunning views of the valleys surrounding them.
Hiking trails traverse just about every part of Helen Putnam Regional Park so that visitors can experience the natural beauty on foot. Many of the trails are quite steep in certain places, so you can expect to get quite a workout from a hike, but they’re accessible enough for the occasional hiker to navigate. Regulars often report seeing native birds, lizards, and even the occasional snake, so a visit to the park might also mean a glimpse into the area’s diverse wildlife.
Helen Putnam Regional Park offers a parking lot where guests can park for a small fee, as well as free street parking when it’s available.
