Wine and dessert make the perfect pair in many cases, but when it came to chocolate, Bill Reading couldn't quite find the right match. He wanted to actually infuse a wine with chocolaty flavors—an endeavor that seemed like should be simple, but was actually proving rather difficult. That is, until Bill discovered port wine. It was about two decades ago that Bill and a friend infused port with hints of cocoa, and the results were inspiring.

They soon debuted their own line of port and sherry, known as Deco and Duet, respectively. Later came Dyna, an apertif with a chardonnay foundation. The three creations are on display at Sonoma Portworks, a tasting room run by Bill and Caryn Reading. Feel free to sit and sample all three, or try just one of the dessert-worthy sips. The tasting room also offers small, sweet bites to complement the booze. And since it's only 15 minutes from Capri Creek, you can enjoy an after-dinner glass tonight.
