The Chicken House: Slather on the Yellow Sauce

More than one Yelp reviewer deems the yellow sauce at The Chicken House highly addictive, and others urge new customers to "use it on everything, get extra even." That's because the yellow sauce features a unique blend of Peruvian spices that make The Chicken House's birds even more enticing.

Prepared in the traditional way—marinated with eclectic spices and roasted to juicy and tender—the poultry at The Chicken House is obviously a big seller. But it's far from the only thing on the menu. The Chicken House dishes out a full array of Peruvian fare, including beef, seafood, pork, and even Peruvian barbecue. Try the barbecue smorgasbord known as the parillada de la casa, a hodgepodge of grilled chicken, pork, sausage, and steak with chunks of cassava, potato, and bananas. They're all seared and served in a piping-hot skillet.

Black Forest Ice Cream Pie

12 sugar ice cream cones, broken into pieces
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 pint chocolate chip ice cream
1 pound fresh or thawed frozen cherries, pitted (about 3 cups)
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch

Dig Into Local Mining History at the Iron Hill Museum in Newark

A wealth of information about Newark's natural history awaits at Iron Hill Museum. It pays homage to the rich past of the Iron Hill region by showcasing geological artifacts innate to the area, just like it has since opening day in 1968.

Check out the Iron Mining exhibit if you're wondering how the name "Iron Hill" came about. You'll learn about every step in the iron mining process and see iron ore before it becomes the final refined form, Pig Iron. Nearby at the Please Touch Wall, experience geology in a sensory way. You're welcome to feel the ridges in a piece of petrified wood or run your fingers over the crags in a turtle shell. Ogle rocks set ablaze (figuratively) by ultraviolet light in the Glowing Rock Room, or explore a chunk of the du Pont Rock and Mineral collection gathered around the state of Delaware and around the globe. You can even learn how the Lenni Lenape tribe used the bounty of the land (including stone) to survive in early America.
