Local Microbrews are Just What the Doctor Ordered at Farm-A-Sea Bistro and Crafthouse

September 24, 2015 2:31 pm

A mix of red brick and honey-toned reclaimed wood create a warm, welcoming atmosphere at Farm A Sea Bistro and Crafthouse. It's a fitting look for the eatery, given that its kitchen sources ingredients directly from local farms that probably look similar to the cozy dining room. Chefs also rely on the pulls of local fisherman to craft their dishes, beginning with breakfast and carrying straight through to lunch and dinner.

A big part of any meal at Farm-A-Sea, however, is your chosen libation. The Crafthouse keeps locals in Delaware-crafted microbrews, seasonally inspired cocktails, and wines. So pair your chili-rubbed pork or pan-seared salmon with an Evolution Lot 3 IPA or a Victory Golden Monkey from right across state lines. You can also match a pomegranate Mai Thai with a light flatbread or a glass of chardonnay with a juicy hanger steak at Farm-A-Sea bistro and Crafthouse

Handy Storage and Organization Tips for Renters

September 17, 2015 2:32 pm

There are a number of smart and design-savvy ways to clear the clutter from your space and add storage, and it just takes a few clever tricks (and maybe a weekend) to get it together.

  1. Add under-bed storage. Whether you use store-bought shoe boxes or even wood palettes, adding storage underneath the bed is a great way to get shoes, clothes, and even books out of sight.
  2. Tackle the closet. Don't feel limited to the two or three clothing bars in your closet. Add your own temporary shelving, shoe racks, and other storage items from the local home goods store.
  3. Add additional bathroom storage. Create your own storage by hanging shelves or even investing in an affordable over-the-toilet storage system.
  4. Use double-duty living room furniture. Instead of letting clutter take over your living room, use furniture that doubles as storage. Try an antique chest as a coffee table or a sofa with hidden storage inside.
  5. Add a kitchen island. Adding a simple kitchen island is an affordable way to create more room for cooking.

Liberty Yoga: From FLY! Vinyasa to Slow-Flowing Therapeutic Classes

September 10, 2015 2:32 pm

Liberty Yoga's co-owners Erin Sweeney and Christine Shaw come from very different backgrounds, which is what makes them such an effective duo. Christine has been immersed in the world of fitness since the '80s, back when aerobics and step classes were the status quo. She taught those classes 30 years ago, but in 1998, she discovered yoga. The slower style of strength-training intrigued her so much that she got certified and started teaching in 2004. She still incorporates some of the fast-paced fitness of her past at FLY! Vinyasa classes, which move at a quick clip and keep both mind and body engaged.

Erin, on the other hand, didn't begin teaching until 2008, and it was a much slower style of yoga that caught her attention. Erin caters to an older demographic with her therapeutic yoga classes, which are designed to stretch out aching muscles using Iyengar techniques. The classes flow at a slow pace and are perfect for someone with stiff joints or anyone new to yoga.
