If mushy peas don't sound tempting to you, then that's probably because you've never tasted them the way chef/owner Adam and his team make them at The Codfather. Despite residing in Charleston, an entire ocean away from the homeland of fish and chips, Chef Adam crafts what he calls "proper fish and chips"—that is, fish and chips with mushy peas and plenty of gravy.

You can skip the peas—and the gravy, for that matter—but you shouldn't. Locals rave about these special additions. It doesn't hurt that the eatery itself is a feast for the eyes, splashed with colorful murals that depict London in a cartoonish, creative way.
