Osake Mixes Californian and Japanese Cuisines

January 3, 2018 | sack

Osake is one of Santa Rosa’s best California-style Japanese sushi restaurants. Opened in 1998 by chef and general manager Gary Chu, this beautiful establishment has been acclaimed by everyone from Zagat to the Michelin Guide.

The menu is filled with a plethora of sushi favorites, such as yellow tail sashimi, octopus carpaccio, and hamachi nigiri. A variety of signature Osake rolls are also featured, such as the Pink Lady Roll — a savory combination of ahi tuna and avocado in a soybean wrapper. Meat lovers will delight in the Cowboy Roll, which is a mouthwatering mixture of grilled beef, cucumber, and teriyaki sauce. As an innovative take on a range of classic flavors, the Angel Roll consists of smoked salmon, avocado, green onion, shiso leaves, and burdock root, all wrapped up in seaweed and daikon.

An extensive sake menu is also offered at Osake. From the elegant Murai Tanrei Junmai variety to the lush Wakatake “Demonslayer” Junmai Daiginjo, all visitors who wish to imbibe this classic Japanese rice wine will not be disappointed at the selection.
