It wasn’t long after chef Josh Silvers became a first-time dad to son Jackson that he realized something about Santa Rosa: its culinary scene really didn’t cater to families. As a chef himself, he loved going out to eat, but was unable to find high-quality cuisine at any of the eateries that were kid-friendly. Rather than resign himself to years of subpar eating, Josh decided to open Jackson’s Bar and Oven to solve the problem.

Named for the son that inspired the restaurant, Jackson’s welcomes the whole family with a full children’s menu, a list of gourmet American cuisine, and bar libations just for the adults. So, while the kids nibble on mac and cheese or pizza, you can share a plate of caramelized brussels sprouts, Dungeness crab rolls, and a wood-fired pizza with house-made sausage on top. Wash it down with a craft cocktail or beer, a glass of wine, or a non-alcoholic beverage.
