Young Imaginations Run Free at the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County
May 5, 2015 | sack
Founded in 2005 with a mission to inspire creativity and stimulate curiosity, the Children's Museum of Sonoma County first operated as a mobile exhibit that brought hands-on art and science experiences to local schools. In 2010, the group signed a lease for their first permanent location and received a grant from the California Parks and Recreation Department to construct an outdoor nature garden. The doors opened for the Museum’s first few permanent exhibits in March 2014, and the museum already offers a bounty of activities that will keep little ones busy for hours.
The outdoor areas are full of cool things to do, from life-size tractors to climb on and explore to a fishing hole for junior anglers. An art studio gives creative types the opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of materials. Admission costs are very reasonable, and the first Wednesday of every month is free!
