Sip and Cycle Around Area Wineries at the Santa Rosa Wine Trail Cycle
June 21, 2016 | sack
If you’re an avid biker who also enjoys a great glass of Merlot, consider taking to the open roads on a Santa Rosa Wine Trail Cycle. Mount a bike at 10 a.m. in Santa Rosa any day in July, and a guide will lead the way through the stunning scenery of Western Sonoma where you’ll visit up-and-coming wineries.
The first ride will take bicyclists along the Joe Rodota bike trail to the Barlow, the newest open-air market in Sonoma County. Sip wine at MacPhail before exploring more of Barlow, where you can grab lunch created with local ingredients. Back roads offer a gentle ride up to Taft Street Winery, known best for it garagiste wine. Another break at Fog Crest Vineyards comes with another wine sampling, but the views are the best part — walk onto the terrace for panoramic views of the Santa Rosa Plain.
Once you’re finished taking in the beauty, a quick ride puts the group back on the Laguna Trail, getting everyone back to the original departure point by 3:30 p.m.
Buy tickets before July 31 for a special rate of $119.
