Bring a Love of Nature to Wildwood Park in Harrisburg

April 21, 2017 | desouzabrown

Thinking about heading to Wildwood Park this weekend? Be sure to bring along a pair of binoculars — and your camera! This park, located on the outskirts of Harrisburg, is known to be home to countless species of birds. Frequently spotted on the park's lake or along the park's miles of trails, the birds span ducks, geese, and egrets to yellow-rumped warblers, catbirds, and wrens.

If you'd rather visit the park just to soak up some fresh air and sunshine, you can do that, too. Lace up your hiking boots for a trek along the groomed trails, keeping your eyes peeled for wildflowers and wildlife. Conclude your time at Wildwood Park with a picnic lunch and a stop by the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center, home to special exhibits and a glass-enclosed bird blind.
