A cross between a race and a rave, the City Island Glow in the Park 5K adds a dose of electric hues to a family-friendly run. On Saturday, June 24th as the sun begins to set around 9 p.m., runners set out from City Island in Harrisburg to jog or walk along a 5K course that promises colorful fun at every twist and turn.

Get to City Island around 6 or 7 p.m. to start getting decked out for the evening. When you pay the $45 registration fee, you get a bag stuffed with glow-in-the-dark accessories, a glowing t-shirt, and luminous paint that you can use to highlight your entire body. For an extra fee, you can add a blacklight headlight that will accentuate your colorful ensemble. And there are chances to accumulate more flair every time you pass a station where volunteers spritz color-infused water or toss bright powder at passersby. Wade through neon foam, glow your way through UV tunnels, and enjoy an '80s-themed dance party when you cross the finish line.
