Strengthen and Lengthen at YogaOne Studios Midtown

One of five YogaOne Studios throughout Houston, YogaOne Studios Midtown was established in 2008 to offer a range of yoga classes in a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. In fact, the YogaOne mission is "to co-create a positive space, filled with positive people, that is positively life changing through the practice and path of yoga."

Here, new and experienced yogis practice their positions within two modern studio spaces, each of which reflects the company's eco-friendly ethos through sustainably sourced bamboo flooring, no-VOC paints, and a BYORWB (Bring Your Own Reusable Water Bottle) policy. Instruction is offered in flow-based styles of yoga and hot yoga, the latter of which is bolstered by a custom heating system.

A single drop-in class at YogaOne Midtown will cost you $18, while class packages offer quantity discounts. Regulars recommend taking advantage of the $30 for 30 days pass, an introductory offer that entitles new yogis to test out an unlimited number of classes over a one-month trial period. Fitzgerald’s: A Houston Institution for Live Music Since 1977

Part dive bar, part music venue, Fitzgerald's has been a Houston institution since 1977. In fact, musicians and bands such as James Brown and The Romones have graced the stage here, and many locals are likely to tell you that Fitzgerald's was the site of their first show.

Downstairs, Fitzgerald’s hosts a stage and two full bars, one of which is located on the venue's sprawling back patio. Upstairs sits the venue's main stage, which regularly hosts music acts in a wide range of genres, from hip hop to indie rock. Fitzgerald's hosts performances several days per week. Shows are open to people of all ages, but only of-ages guests are granted access to the bar.

Vinal Edge Records: Spin Your Favorites at This Local Record Store

This locally owned, independent record store has served the Houston area since the 1980s, and its extensive inventory spans all genres. Tout Suite Cafe: Hurry In for a Caramel Cupcake and a Vietnamese Sandwich

In French, “tout de suite” translates to “right away”, which is appropriate for a place that serves cupcakes so decadent, you’ll want to hurry in to try them. While Houston's Tout Suite Cafe is a combination bakery and cafe that specializes in cupcakes, that's not all that you’ll find on the expansive menu here. Salted caramel and tiramisu cupcakes mingle with Vietnamese steak sandwiches and avocados stuffed with quinoa and fried eggs, while cold-pressed juices and hot, fresh coffees are available to wash it all down.

Set Out On an Afternoon Trek at the Hermann Park Trail

If you’re in the mood to spend some time outdoors but you don’t have time to venture too far outside of Houston, you’ll love hiking the Hermann Park Trail. This convenient trail is located inside of Houston’s beloved Hermann Park, and it offers beautiful views of all of the park’s nearby attractions.

Watch as schools of catfish swim in the bayou when you reach riverside points of the trail, and then check out skyline views once the trail reaches areas near the city. Some portions of the trail are paved, while others are covered in gravel in areas around the zoo and golf course. Whichever type of trail you prefer to walk or run on, there’s a portion of the Hermann Park Trail that you’re sure to enjoy.

If you want to engage in even more rigorous leg exercises, there are even steep hills along the portion of trail that runs near the Miller Outdoor Theater.

Warehouse Live: Rock Out at This Intimate Performing Arts Venue in Houston

Occupying a converted warehouse, this intimate venue has a cool and atmospheric vibe, with LED chandeliers, cozy booths, and cafe tables where guests can relax and enjoy music by their favorite bands. The stage is easily visible from anywhere in the room, and it's well lit so that every performance feels up-close-and-personal.
