Bedford Reservation: Walk, Bike or Hike Your Way to Waterfall Views

There are few things more peaceful than an outdoor hike, and the Bedford Reservation offers Cleveland-area residents the perfect outdoor escape. This well-maintained park is laid out in a way that’s accessible to people and families of all ages, with clearly marked signs, ample parking, and trails of all difficulty levels. Numerous picnic areas offer shady spots for an afternoon lunch outdoors, and these areas also include playground equipment for younger visitors to play on.

Though the park is full of natural amenities, it’s the waterfalls that really steal the show. The Bedford Reservation is home to many different waterfalls, including Tinker’s Creek, which drops an impressive 220 feet over the course of just two miles!

The Bedford Reservation hosts many community activities, including golf tournaments on its Shawnee Hills Golf Course. To view hiking or biking trails, visit the reservation’s informative website. The reservation is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

The Warrensville Heights Public Library is a part of the Cuyahoga County Public Library system, which enables it to offer a wide list of amenities to the area’s residents. This branch contains a large number of fiction, nonfiction, children’s, and reference books both for reading for pleasure or for educational purposes.

In addition to its literary collection, the library also contains job and career services, Internet access, and a number of meeting rooms ideal for community organizations or study groups. The Warrensville Heights branch hosts a wide variety of events and activities for all ages, from its first aid classes to its story hours for young readers. Whether you need to apply for a passport or use the computers, the library is a beneficial resource for the entire community.

The Warrensville Heights Public Library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad: Explore the Valley’s First Railroad

Ever since the Cuyahoga Valley’s first steam engine passed down the Valley Railway back in 1880, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has been an impressive fixture in the community. Though it once helped to transport coal, produce, and manufactured goods from Canton to Cleveland, the railroad is now a popular tourist attraction that’s full of fascinating history.

The National Park Service maintains this educational attraction, and it is a part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Visitors can ride the excursion train through the 33,000 acres of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where you’ll see incredible views of meadowland, lush trees, small towns, and even a working 19th century farm.
