Bella on the River: Savor a Romantic Meal

With its candlelit tables and rock walls, Bella on the River on San Antonio’s River Walk strives to cultivate an intimate, Old World feel. Locals say that Bella on the River is the perfect restaurant for couples in search of romance or for very small groups. Fans recommend the roasted corn and sunchoke soup; the shrimp, pork, gnocchi; and the halibut. Other favorites include the seafood paella and the pan-roasted chicken breast. Locals recommend trying Virginia’s pistachio cake for dessert. Bella also offers a gluten-free menu, which features many of the same entrees as the regular menu.
While Bella on the River is a pricier dining establishment, locals say that’s typical of restaurants on San Antonio’s River Walk. You probably won't need a reservation on a weeknight, but it’s a good idea to have one on a weekend, since the cozy dining room fills quickly. Bella on the River is open Mondays through Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
