At the corner of El Camino Real and 2nd Street, you’ll see a two-story brick building with rich, red trim. That’s Tustin’s El Camino Cafe, a cozy neighborhood eatery that serves authentic cuisine straight from Southwestern Mexico.
The family who owns El Camino traces its roots back to Michoacan, the region of Mexico famous for its “soul food” style of hearty, satisfying meals. Some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes include chicken fajita tacos and huevos rancheros, the latter paired with the horchata espresso. Reviewers say that you shouldn’t miss some of the other, lesser-known items on the menu, particularly the huevos divorciados for brunch, and the salsa verde chilaquiles (which several Yelpers call Orange County’s best) for lunch or dinner. When the weather is mild, the patio and balcony seating provide one of the city’s most sought after al fresco dining experiences.
