Try the House-Made Cheese and Other Indian Snacks at Chaat House

Deep-fried mashed potato balls battered in chickpea flour and Indian spices. Pillowy, air-filled wafers accompanied by mixed chutneys and spicy mint water. Sweet yogurt with friend lentil balls and fresh chutney. These are just a few of the exotic appetizers you'll find at Chaat House, an Indian restaurant that opened two weeks ago about 1.5 miles from Fountain Park. You can also share a house thali to start, which is basically just a sampling platter of a mix of the Indian eats.

Save room, though, for the slew of veggie-based dishes, such as the kadhi. It's a classic curry featuring chickpea flour and yogurt. There's also the masala bhindi, aka seared okra with onions and tomatoes. If you want a taste of the house-made cheese, try the malai paneer, a preparation that pairs the cheese with a creamy sauce, or the bharta paneer, which simply augments the cheese with a signature blend of spices.
