Spend an Afternoon Admiring Blooming Flowers at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden

September 13, 2016 | sack

If you're looking for a way to spend some time outdoors this weekend, pay a visit to San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. Located at the intersection of Naglee and Dana Avenues, this popular park has been showcasing its colorful, aromatic blooms since its grand opening in 1937.

Today, the garden covers more than five acres and contains nearly 200 varieties of roses, ranging from the big, showy, El Catala roses, to tiny, peach-colored tea roses, all of which are cared for by dedicated, horticulturally-minded volunteers. When you visit, you’ll find visitors reclining on the many benches that are scattered throughout the garden, as well as spreading out blankets on the grass for picnics and a bit of relaxation. There’s also a big fountain the middle of the garden, where folks gather to enjoy the splashing water and to cool off during the heat of the day.
