Find Authentic Cuban Sandwiches at Cubamex
December 21, 2016 | sack
Cubamex is a neighborhood sandwich shop that opened in downtown San Jose late in the summer of 2016, and has already picked up a devoted clientele. Yelpers note that the eatery offers a tidy and welcoming space, with a handful of small tables and floor to ceiling windows that make it a pleasure to sit down and enjoy a quick, casual lunch. The menu includes everything from hot dogs to salads, while also serving up Cuban coffee, crispy golden plantain chips, and desserts like flan and guava with cheese.
The specialty at Cubamex, however, is the Cubamex sandwich, with warm Cuban sauce, melted cheese, and pork, ham, salami, and Canadian bacon piled high, all for less than ten bucks. Add the house-made tortilla chips, pico de gallo, and a Mexican soda to make it a full meal. Insider tip: this place also serves tamales, but they’re not listed on the menu, so be sure to make a special request if that’s what you want!
