Maya’s Cafe, a small eatery in San Jose’s Cambrian Park neighborhood, offers a wide array of Mexican dishes, as well as traditional Honduran choices. You’ll find favorite Honduran dishes like baleadas, chuletas sampedrana (pork chops smothered in traditional sauce) and tajadas with ground meat. Maya’s also has a solid selection of Mexican food, including the classics like tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. The Salvadoran pupusas are also a must-try, which are thick corn tortillas stuffed with a savory filling, such as beans, pork, and cheese.
Maya’s Café has a quaint interior with a variety of tables and booths and five televisions playing popular sports. Regulars appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff who take the time to explain menu choices and make helpful suggestions.
