Find Tortas, Conchas and More at Mexico Bakery
February 13, 2019 | sack
Located in East San Jose, Mexico Bakery is just what the name says: a bustling bakery stocked with Mexican pastries, cakes, and breads plus sizable tortas (Mexican-style sandwiches) and fresh-squeezed juices. The tortas are built on fresh, chewy rolls called teleras, and generously filled with queso fresco, slices of tomato, onions, jalapeños, avocado, and your choice of meat. You can choose from fillings like carne asada, chicken, ham, sausage, chorizo, and cheese. The Torta Milanesa is a must-try, stuffed with fried and breaded beef steak.
For dessert, choose something from the shelves of pastries, such as Mexican staples like conchas and cuernos, or American-style favorites like doughnuts of different varieties. They even have thick slices of Salvadoran quesadilla, similar to pound cake and made with freshly grated queso fresco, rice flour, sugar, and cream.
Mexico Bakery is open daily from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
