If you've had matcha, then you probably understand what all the fuss is about: this traditional Japanese green tea is packed with healthy antioxidents, but has only one third of the caffeine in regular tea. It's also a good flavor base for both sweet and savory treats, which is where Matcha Love comes into the picture.

This San Jose shop serves matcha tea itself, but also a variety of tea-inspired soft-serve ice creams. Go for plain matcha ice cream if you want to get a sense of the base flavor, but don't be afraid to branch out, either. The hoji flavor has a sweet-and-smoky roasted taste, whereas the black sesame ice cream adds some rich, almost peanut-buttery notes. Be aware that the shop itself is not a free-standing building. Instead, look for it within the Mitsuwa Market, right next to the ramen food court.
