Jubba Restaurant, a family-owned Somalian eatery in San Jose, is well-known for its no-frills vibe and tasty meat and rice platters. Start your meal off with a samosa, fried to perfection with a filling of ground beef and spices, served with a medium hot green chutney that is perfect for dipping. For your main course, opt for the Beef Suqaar, a platter of juicy slices of beef tossed with chapatti (flatbread shreds), bananas, onions, broccoli, snap peas, and sesame oil. For those with a hearty appetite, the Sports Plate is designed for two people and includes two meats with a side of basmati rice or spaghetti.
Inside you’ll find a curved, spacious dining area with oversized windows letting in lots of natural light. Jubba also provides free ginger tea, which has a pleasant and sweet flavor, located towards the back of the restaurant. Stop into Jubba Restaurant Thursday through Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 pm.
