The Counter: Build Your Own Gourmet Burger

From Times Square to Honolulu, The Counter has locations sprinkled all across the country. That speaks the the strength of its build-your-own gourmet burger model, which clearly has customers everywhere excited. Most of the upscale burger joints reside in California, however, and a new one just popped up about a mile away from Fountain Park a few weeks ago.

Like its sister restaurants, The Counter in Cupertino promises a juicy burger prepared just the way you want it, plus crispy fries and creamy shakes. In the burger-building process, you start by picking a foundation. Hormone- and antibiotic-free beef is the standard choice, but you can also opt for leaner ground turkey, a house-made vegan patty, or chicken breast—to name just a few. Then pick your cheese, sauce, and toppings, plus the bun (pretzel and Hawaiian are both options). You can also leave the decision-making to chefs and order one of the pre-constructed gourmet burgers instead.
