You may think you already know Mayflower Restaurant, since it's been part of San Jose's culinary landscape for a while, but new owners recently took over the eatery. After updating the space and the menu, they reopened in January at the same location, roughly 10 minutes from Fountain Park. Early reviews seem to suggests that patrons are big fans of Mayflower's new management.

They not only praise the remodeled eatery, but also the caliber of the owner-chef, who is well known in the Bay. He and his team craft up-and-coming customer favorites, like the mild glazed walnut with prawns. The menu encompasses a large roster of beef, seafood, chicken, and veggie dishes, some tinged with subtle (or not-so-subtle) heat, and others free of spice altogether. At reasonable prices, the eats make a trip from Fountain Park to Mayflower Restaurant well worth it when you want something different for dinner.
