It’s Always Morning in Rosedale at The Omelettry

February 6, 2014 2:46 pm

The Omelettry proves that omelets don’t just have to be for breakfast. Located right on the corner where Burnet Road meets West 47th Street, the Omelettry is a place where it's always morning. That’s because the Omelettry serves breakfast until dinnertime! This is a cool spot with funky paintings on the outside walls and a dining area that defines casual. But the word is out, so be prepared to wait a bit on the weekends. The menu features many traditional breakfast plates, but locals really like the specials (try the Popeye Omelet with spinach, the Eggonomica, or the Gingerbread Pancakes). You can also create your own omelet! Come back for the lunch specials, or just have breakfast again! And remember, this is a cash-only establishment.

Campo Azul Bar & Mexican Grill: A Round Rock Secret for Authentic Mexican Cuisine

January 30, 2014 11:08 am

Campo Azul Bar & Mexican Grill is a secret gem in Round Rock for authentic Mexican food.  This little cantina is family owned and operated and offers an enjoyable dining experience.  There is rarely a wait and customers appreciate the prompt, friendly service.  The menu is small in comparison to most Mexican restaurants, but dishes are made with fresh ingredients – including the homemade tortillas.  A customer favorite and house specially is the Mocajate; a mix of fajita meats and veggies served a stone bowl to keep your meal warm.  Not only are prices reasonable but the portions are quite generous and you’ll likely have leftovers.  Campo Azul offers $5.99 weekday lunch specials and their happy hour from 4-7 p.m. features discounts on already low-priced beers.  Stop in after work for a Mexican draft beer or jumbo margarita.  This place is very welcoming with fresh updated decor.  There is even an outdoor patio that has occasional entertainment and salsa lessons.

Determine How Much Physical Activity You Need With This Helpful Guide

January 22, 2014 11:55 am

Sure, we all know we should exercise, but how much exercise does a person actually need? It depends on your weight, age, how much you eat, and a number of other factors. This informative guide from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can help you determine how much exercise you should get each day, and then it recommends activities that are virtually painless and even a little fun.

Once you get enough physical activity, it starts to burn off more calories than your body needs, resulting in weight loss. Though lowering the number of calories you consume is the best way to lose weight, exercising is the only way to maintain your goal weight, and it prevents things like heart disease and diabetes.

The best part about exercise is that it takes a lot to initially lose weight, but it becomes much easier to maintain your goal weight once you get there. For most people, a simple 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week is enough to ensure that you don’t gain weight from the foods you eat. Things like light yard work or brisk walking are considered moderate intensity, while swimming laps or jogging are great ways to get more vigorous intensity physical activity.

When you consult this helpful guide to see how many calories your favorite physical activities burn, managing your health becomes easier and more effective.
