Ideal Tavern in Southington puts a new spin on the gastropub in their beautiful historic location on Center Street. Only open since July but already earning rave reviews all around, the pub welcomes you with beautiful white-washed brick and repurposed wood galore. It's definitely a place you want to sit down and get cozy.
The menu is a delightful mix of cozy comfort foods and elegant small plates. There are eight (yes, eight!) varieties of mac and cheese. Pair your mac with lobster, applewood-smoked bacon, or take the “healthy” route and add arugula or oven-roasted tomato. The “between the buns” section of the menu boasts burgers and a tasty po'boy sandwich. The small plates are perfect for sharing, with options like sushi rolls and pork belly. If you aren’t in the sharing mood the filet mignon is out of this world. They also have salads and flatbreads.
Pair your meal with a creative cocktail. The “whole lava love” drink receives the best reviews with a combo of patron reposado, raspberry, hibiscus, and lemon that steals the show.
