Kick Off the Weekend with Dinner at Abigail’s Grille & Wine Bar

November 11, 2016 | trioonline

Simsbury is full of beautiful old homes and buildings, and Abigail’s Grille & Wine Bar is no exception. Built in 1780, the original tavern was intended to be the first stop after Hartford for stagecoaches. The restaurant's food is as rich as its history, serving up a mix of continental cuisine and New England favorites.

Start with the garlic and gorgonzola bread for the table — garlic bread with creamy melted gorgonzola can’t be beat. They also have a delicious raw bar to kick off your meal if seafood is more your style. The menu is broken down into steaks and chops, seafood, land and pastas. The Maine lobster pasta is decadent and delicious, coming highly recommended by regulars. In terms of seafood, the pan-seared day boat scallops with blood orange and caramelized fennel are out of this world. (Don't skip the crowd-favorite basil whipped potatoes or the parmesan crusted fries!)

Visit Sunday through Tuesday evenings for their $25.95 complete dinner special where you can select a starter, entree and dessert. Be sure to like the restaurant on Facebook!
