Spend a Sunny Day at Talcott Mountain State Park

May 24, 2017 | trioonline

Sunny days are here to stay for a while, and Talcott Mountain State Park is the perfect place to spend them. Grab your friends and family for a lively afternoon outdoors with some of the best views of the area.

Talcott Mountain State Park is home to the Heublein Tower. Originally a summer home in the early 1900s, the tower has played host to former presidents Eisenhower and Reagan. Only a little more than a mile down the main trail, the house now serves as a museum from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. When you reach the museum, you must visit the top of the 1,000-foot tower for which the building is named. It provides the most incredible vistas around.

Pack a picnic to enjoy when you come back down to close out the day, and walk it off on the way back to your car! A day well spent.
