Hillbarn Theatre: A Staple of Foster City’s Arts Scene
May 19, 2015 | sack
Founded in 1941 by Robert Brauns and Sam Rolph, the Hillbarn Theatre first found a home in the Pingrey barn, which happened to be on a hill; hence, this community theatre's somewhat unusual name! Over the decades, the theatre has moved several times and has evolved to become an essential part of Foster City’s arts scene. In fact, the Hillbarn Theatre is currently the sixth oldest operating amateur theatre company in the United States!
Even if you’re in the back row, you’ll enjoy the show due to the theatre’s exceptional acoustics and sightlines. Shows do sell out fairly fast, so book tickets early if there’s a performance you really want to catch. Box office hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
