I've been going to this place since it opened, I think. The food is great. No way better than the other burger places, but a solid offering. I always get the double char with cheese. The sweet potato fries are delicious. And the tempura green beans are not only deliciously crunchy, but are also a nice change from the standard side order options everywhere else.

But the thing that really makes The Habit in San Mateo stand out as my favorite place is the service. They are so friendly. They virtually always get the order perfect. And on the few occasions they've made mistakes, they've been quick to fix things.

If I had to pick one thing to be critical of, the chocolate shakes taste like they're just flavored with a bunch of Hershey's Syrup. That's not really bad per se, but it's definitely not the level of milkshake you'd get from Red Robin or Main Street Burgers in Los Gatos.
