If you're looking for something different to do this Friday night, Ryptic Room Escape may be it. San Mateo hops on the escape-the-room game bandwagon at this business not far from Hillsdale Square, but with a family-friendly twist. Instead of the creepy crawly features of other escape-the-room places, Ryptic Room Escape enlists fun puzzles and team-building games.

That means everyone is welcome here for an hour-long attempt at escaping the room. In order to do so, you'll have to master a slew of different brain-teasing puzzles (which previous visitors have thoroughly enjoyed) and follow a trail of clues. Neither require any physical feats, so no one in your crew will be excluded. If you complete the puzzles and solve the mystery behind the clues within 60 minutes, the door will be unlocked and you and your teammates will be sent off with a champion's farewell.
