Celebrate Independence at the San Mateo Highlands 4th of July Parade

June 30, 2017 | sack

The San Mateo Highlands 4th of July Parade is an annual event that started way back in 1960. This family-friendly event has a footrace, parade, and festival, and it's a great way to celebrate Independence Day with your neighbors.

The 4K footrace around the neighborhood starts at 8:30 a.m. and the parade beings at 10 a.m. Favorite activities include the family swim race, and a dunk tank where you can watch several well-known locals get soaked to the core. The parade is complete with fire engines, police cars, and county supervisors riding in their convertibles. There will also be a variety of food vendors supplying all-American eats all day long. To watch the fireworks, head over to Foster City for one of the best fireworks displays on the Peninsula.
