Back in the 1700s, after a long day of work, Brazilian cowboys would gather daily to roast meat over an open fire pit of mesquite, sharing the tasty meat and swapping stories of their day’s adventures. From these campfire feasts, churrasco cuisine was born. Espetus Churrascaria is an authentic Brazilian steakhouse in San Mateo. At Espetus, chefs slowly grill skewered meats over an open flame, capturing the meats authentic flavors and textures.

As you arrive at the restaurant, the dining experience will be explained to you. Then, you can take a trip to the salad bar where a variety of salads and side dishes are offered. When you’re ready for meat, turn your tableside dial to green. The waiters will then bring by 14 cuts of meat over to your table, sliced and served. Meat choices include sirloin steak, top sirloin, filet mignon, and flap steak. When you’re full, turn your dial to red — but make sure you save room for dessert. Espetus has a variety of delicious Brazilian sweets.
