Located in San Manteo about four miles from Hillsdale Square, El Palenque Taqueria is an authentic Mexican restaurant offering classic fare, such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos. The tacos are only $2.25 each and come with your choice of meat, such as carne asada, carnitas, chorizo, lengua, pollo asado, and more. Another favorite is the Super Burrito, filled with meat, tasty pinto beans, melty cheese, rice, sour cream, and chunks of fresh avocado. Check out the complimentary salsa bar with four different kinds of salsa and pico de gallo along with tortilla chips, and pair your meal with their refreshing peach or pineapple aguas frescas.

The eatery is known for its large portions, reasonable prices, and flavorful food. The space is cozy, with a handful of tables and counter seating, but you can also call ahead for take out. El Palenque Taqueria is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
