Build a Healthy Bowl at Pokeatery
April 30, 2019 | sack
The owners of Pokeatery share a love for Hawaii, which is a big part of the reason they decided to open the eatery. On their island adventures, they fell in love with the traditional Hawaiian dish of poke. It’s a raw seafood salad, typically featuring fresh ahi tuna. However, at their eatery, you can build your poke bowl however you like it.
To get started, pick your base. You can go with traditional white or brown rice, or try the kelp noodles, mixed greens, citrus-marinated kale, or ‘uala chips. Then add mix-ins such as seaweed or onion, and choose a side like spicy garlic edamame. Next, select your protein from a list that includes the signature ahi tuna alongside salmon, hamachi, tofu, and even vegan shrimp. Finally, choose a sauce, like the wasabi citrus or spicy ponzu, and toppings such as spicy tempura or mango.
